Review: The Last Kingdom Season 4 Episode 7

Well, things move fast in Mercia, don't they?

To be honest, I had a hard time following all the coming and goings from Aegelesburg and who was ploting against whom, but I think the end result is that everyone is more-or-less back where they were a few episode.

The notable exception is that Edward has finally decided to behave with *some* degree of logic (although his hair and clothes still look dumb, if you ask me) and Uhtred is on his way to becoming Lord of Mercia, which doesn't really seem to be his style. Don't get me wrong, I think he would be a great ruler, but there's nothing that really binds Uhtred to Mercia, except Æthelflæd.

Speaking of Æthelflæd, I really felt for her in this episode. She's had a tough couple of weeks! I hope she has some time to hang out with her daughter and relax. Although, the Danes seem to be invading again, so she'll probably have to be on the battlefield again in an hour or so. 

Talking about the Danes, I am glad that Brida FINALLY got out of that torture pit. Watching those weirdo Welsh guys tormenting her week after week was really getting old. Although, I'm a bit concerned that she's now seeking revenge on Uhtred. Her situation wasn't really his fault, and I don't think he intended for any harm to come to her. Uhtred can't catch a break, can he? 

Setting Brida aside, I have to criticize the choice to cast whoever is playing Sigtryggr. He looks like a twelve year old trying to grow his first beard, and I don't think much of his acting. 

Overall, I didn't think this was a particularly strong episode. I found myself checking how many minutes were left in the episode and wishing it was already over. There was a lot of boring and pointless political negotiation and riding across the country without much purpose. In my opinion, this episode was useful only in that it reset the chess board for the final few episodes. It wasn't enjoyable in and of itself. 

Also, can someone please get Æthelflæd something new to wear? She's been in that pink dress the entire season; it has to be pretty stinky by now.

Okay, I cannot tell a lie, I was not the biggest fan of this episode. Like, don't get me wrong, it's still Peaky Blinders , so it's automatically better than like 90% of shows out there, but this was not its best moment. In my opinion, anyway. First of all, I am supremely annoyed by the time jump. Like, I don't mind when shows do time jumps when nothing much happens, but it seemed like a LOT happened here. First of all, Freddie died offscreen?????????? I cannot express to you how much I am NOT okay with that. Peaky Blinders: Season 1 Episode 1 Review

So, I have to admit that people have been telling me to watch Peaky Blinders for years, but, somehow, I never got around to it, which is strange because, on the surface,  Peaky Blinders  is everything I like in television. It's a period drama, set in England, with a dark, brooding, leading man; I should love it, right? Well, I'm not sure why I resisted watching it for so long because this show is FAN-TASTIC. I mean, I've only seen the first episode at this point, but I can already tell that it is really and truly wonderful. First of all, where has Cillian Murphy been all my life? How is he like the best actor ever, and I've never heard of him? Maybe he's big in the UK and not so much in the US? Or maybe I've been living under a rock? I don't know. Peaky Blinders: Season 2 Episode 6 Review

Oh my goodness, THE DRAMA! THE D-R-A-M-A. As I was watching this episode, I actually had to pause a couple of times to let the sheer dramatic-ness of the situations wash over me. It was just all so DRAMATIC. Okay, let me take a deep breath, and then we can actually talk about the episode. First things first, Tommy and Grace are getting married! What gift should I send to the wedding, I am so unbelievably happy for them. Well, I think I'm mostly happy for Tommy, but Grace can get a share of that too. At least, I assume they're getting married. Tommy said it out loud, which means it will eventually come true. Although, I'm not sure if Grace knows they're getting married yet. And what are they going to do about that nice man from Poughkeepsie??????? The other problem with this situation is Grace only seemed interested in getting back with Tommy after she knew she was pregnant with his baby. Like, did she not love him before she knew that??
