I can’t lie, this episode was kind of a snoozer for me. Like, to me, it just felt like filler, which is probably not a fair assessment. But, for whatever reason, I just didn’t like it. It happens. Basically, this episode was about a ton that’s being plagued by demons, which are making the town go crazy. (Hence the title “Sin City”). Sam and Dean arrive to investigate, running into another hunter named Richie in the process. Unfortunately, Richie is pretty useless as a hunter, and he ends up getting killed. Dean sets out to get revenge and learns that the bartender, a woman named Casey is a demon. He tries to exorcise her and ends up trapped in a basement with the demon. Meanwhile, Sam tries to come to his rescue and ends up in a fight with another demon. However, Bobby arrives and helps them kill the demons. There were some good plot moments though. Thank GOODNESS Arthur isn't actually dead! When he walked back on the screen, I was so, so relieved. Don't get me wrong, I totally believed that he was dead when Tommy said he was; that scene was masterful. But, no offense to Tommy and the rest of the gang, the show just would not be the same without Arthur. Like, when I thought he had really died, I was like "oh, crap, what are they going to do in season 5???" But, fortunately, we do not have that problem. Anyway, on the whole, this was a very interesting finale. Quite honestly, it didn't feel like any PB finale that I've seen before. It was slower and more contemplative. I know that there's at least one more season, but this episode almost felt like it could have been the conclusion of the whole show. I mean, the Shelbys have more power than ever and no enemies? I AM BATMAN! I love Dean Winchester so much I can’t even put it into words. Like, who has such fantastic one liners and is also that ridiculously good looking? Ugh, I can’t even. But seriously, I’m going to start using that line in my real life now, see if I don’t! But, before I get too distracted, let’s talk about the episode. I’m getting real annoyed that no one has killed Gordon yet. Like, I keep telling Sam and Dean that they need to end him, but it’s almost like they’re projections on my TV screen and can’t hear me *shrug*. Seriously though, they should have killed him when they had the chance. I think this is the third time he’s shown up to screw with them. I get that Sam and Dean don’t want to hurt a human, but, at some point, enough is enough, right? Like, how many times is Gordon going to get them almost killed? SMH. Where to begin?! I feel like a ton of stuff happened in this episode. I mean, a ton of stuff happens in every episode, but this one was really jam packed. Even so, I still feel like this episode was mostly set up. Everything is building up to the season four finale, which must be really incredible because I can't imagine how they're going to resolve all these plots in just one hour! First of all, I cannot tell you how glad I am that Polly didn't betray Tommy. That's a huge weight off my mind. That does not, however, negate the fact that Michael kind of betrayed Tommy, but I imagine that will be addressed later. Right now, I want to focus on how cool Tommy looked with that machine gun. That's an OG move for sure. On the other hand, I'm beginning to think that Luca is not a very good gangster. Like, he's had a million chances to kill Tommy at this point. Why is he still alive? Okay, raise your hand if you were convinced that Ben was Dean’s kid. I mean, I know that the mom said he wasn’t, but I’m still half convinced. Like, they have the same pick up lines, the same sense of humor, and the same taste in music. They’re even wearing the same jacket! How is Ben not mini-Dean? But, I digress. Let us talk about this episode. Guys, I am 100% confident that this was the FREAKIEST thing I have ever seen on television. Seriously, I was not prepared for how much this episode scared me. I think it was because it was both hilarious and extremely terrifying. Like, one minute you’re eating race-car birthday cake, and the next minute there’s a kid with a sucker mouth and empty holes for eyes in your rearview mirror. So, I guess Supernatural is going to be all demon hunting all the time going forward. Like, I’m okay with that, don’t get me wrong. Demons, you gotta hate ‘em, amirite? Overall, however, I just didn’t love this episode. Out of the three season premieres I’ve seen thus far, this one is definitely the weakest. I just felt like the episode was a little unfocused. Basically this episode just reveals the aftermath of opening the Hell Gate. Demons are rampaging across the world and causing all sorts of trouble, and Sam and Dean are on hand to save the day. In this episode, they encounter the seven deadly sins made incarnate. The seven are set on destroying the Winchesters, so, of course, they have to send them back to hell. Along the way, they encounter a married couple who happen to be hunters. They blame Sam and Dean for letting the demons loose, which seems a bit unfair to me. I mean, surely that was Jake’s fault. First Polly and now Michael! Why is everyone betraying Tommy???? I am genuinely really distressed by all of this. I mean, I get that Michael doesn't want to throw his mother under the bus, but this is all really, really bad. The only way the PBs are going to get through this alive is by sticking together. Internal conflict will destroy them! Surely, anyone with any degree of common sense will realize this. Also, as I've said before, the Mafia will obviously kill them all just as soon as Tommy is dead, deal or no deal. Like, Luca is not going to leave them alive. That would not be good for his street cred. Turning them against each other is just another way for him to inflict pain on Tommy. I hope that Polly understands this. It is very possible that Tommy and Polly planned together that Polly should betray him (kind of like a Snape/Dumbledore deal).
